CBSE chief (chairperson) shared a letter before the board exam where she listed several rules (suggestions) for parents; every parent should follow these tips to help their child put their best in the upcoming board exams.
Here are the tips:

- Nap right: Make sure your child has adequate sleep the night before the exam and eats well throughout.
- Power dressing: Students should wear their school uniform, carry school id card and CBSE board admit card
- Exam centre: Check the location of the exam centre at least one day before the exam (you can do it earlier too). CBSE also has an ‘exam center locator app’ for the android platform that helps you with the correct directions for the exam center.
- Must carry: The student needs to carry only – admit card, school identity card, pen, pencil, eraser, scale, sharpener; all these must be carried in a transparent pouch in which contents are visible from the outside.
- Timing: Make sure the child reaches the exam centre at least 15 minutes before the exam starts. Students will also have to go through frisking.
- Banned items: Make sure your child is not carrying things like mobile, wallet, purse, etc to the examination center.
- Follow rules: Remind your child to follow all instructions given by invigilators, especially how to write roll number in the answer book.
- Warning: Remind your child about the consequences of indulging in wrongdoings; they could be debarred from appearing in other exams.
- Special children: Remember, if your child comes under benchmark disabilities, the board has made provisions for your child
- Pressure of Expectations: Do not burden your children with the pressure of expectations.
CBSE chief messages students in tech lingo for better connect
Here’s a creative letter written by the CBSE chief, written in a tech lingo (which students understand better), so that the stressed out students appearing for board exams, can better relate to her advice.
While this may appeal to students, I assume most teachers will have to do a google search or check with the computer teacher to understand the meaning of some of these words.
Hashtag, insta, autocorrect, optimise, router, search engine, hard disk, firewall, web browser, messengers, download, backspace, pause, shift, delete are some of the computer/tech words she used in her letter so that the children do not just ignore what she has written in her letter.

Here are the main points from her letter to the students appearing for the board exams.
“The schooling years are the best years for scholarship and education because students’ ‘hard disc’ space is the most receptive in these years. You should let your mind’s ‘web browser’ loose and ‘download’ several life competencies and life skills.
“There are ‘messengers’ (mentors) to help you identify the ‘spams’ and Ensure the ‘bandwidth’ of learning is fast and vast. Don’t forget you have multiple options such as ‘autocorrect’, ‘backspace’, ‘pause’, ‘shift’ or ‘delete’ to add value to education”.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chief advised students to “firewall” all distractions for the time being and let fun and games go to the ‘random access memory’, while stressing that exams should not be a measure of one’s success or failure.

“Exams are like ‘Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) of your lives that are meant to help you locate the real possibilities and resources that lie within you by optimising your knowledge ‘search engine'”, she said.
“In the future you will not even remember the marks you get now but let the days you spend working hard for exams be ‘router’ for a fulfilling life”.
Seeking to connect with students in the tech lingo they are so familiar with, the CBSE chief said, “Face your books and ‘insta’ your studies and let the hashtag ‘studentunstoppable’ trend”.
