Though most parents would prefer their children to learn in an environment where there’s more of real teacher-student interaction for certain situations digital education can be really cost-effective and a great tool for remote learning.
Educational institutions are now using technology to make teaching simple, and also more inclusive. Virtual classrooms, e-lectures, web conferencing and online courses are part of the plethora of options that digital education provides, and the good thing is that most institutions are already using it.
The good thing about this wave of learning is that technology for learning is not limited to the elite alone. There are schools located in remote parts of India where teachers armed with a basic computer, webcam, and internet setup, are teaching primary schoolchildren.
E-learning do have their own share of glitches though. The set up requires high speed internet connection which needs to be on, even if classes are not being held. However, with better infrastructure these things will only improve in India.
Online courses are a great way to diversify your skills, especially for working professionals who have no time to attend classes physically. It also provides great exposure to international education, at a much reduced cost.
Several private schools in the country have already invested in some form of teaching technology, and experts claim that India’s market for digital learning systems is estimated to be around 500 million dollars a year.
So probably few years down the line, the traditional chalk and blackboard method is only going to remain in our memories.
