CBSE boards’ Assessment of Listening and Speaking skills (ASL) (also known as Listening and Speaking Skills (ALS)) evaluates a student’s listening, speaking, and communication skills in English. It also assesses the analytical reasoning skills of students by asking them various questions on the topic.

Listening Test
In this test, a student is made to hear audio clips, one is a conversation and the other is a speech. The examiner will then ask questions pertaining to the audio clips. There are no negative marking for incorrect answers.
Speaking Test
In this test, the students have to prepare a speech on one of the ASL topics, which the student can choose or can be allotted by the teacher (depending on the school). After the speech, the examiner will ask the student some general questions.ASL Topics List
