Here are some positive discipline strategies:
- Set limits. Have clear and consistent rules that your children can follow.
- Give consequences. Firmly explain the consequences if they don’t behave (you get one less biscuit or no screen time).
- Give them your attention – reinforce good behaviors and discourage others. Notice good behavior and praise success and good tries.
- Redirect bad behavior. Kids at times misbehave because they are bored or don’t know any better. Provide them better alternatives.
- Call a time-out. Ask the kids to take a break (time-out) if any rule is broken.
- Make the child to sit idle on a chair in a room for a few minutes (5 min).

Abusive father in Saudi hits toddler with stroller
An Arab resident in Saudi Arabia was arrested after a video showing him savagely hitting a crying toddler with a stroller while the mother was walking behind them went viral on social media.
Following the posting of the video on social media, and the directives of the Deputy Emir of the Eastern Province, the police were able to identify the assailant and arrest him. The competent authorities were alerted to conduct a study of the toddler’s social condition and take the necessary measures.
Women said they were familiar with such outrageous attitudes because several men in Saudi are violent, whenever they get angry, moms race to keep the children away to protect them from the men’s rage. Professional help is very crucial to change attitudes.
The incident happened in a shopping mall in the Eastern Province and prompted outrage among users who called for stringent action against the abuser. Physical abuses are strictly forbidden in Saudi Arabia in all sectors and teachers who punish students corporally are held accountable.
