In India, Education Minister is called Human Resource Development Minister. After 1985, Education Ministry name was changed to HRD Ministry. In several other countries, including the United states, it is still called the Education Minister.
Education is considered a part of Human resource Development, so there is no education Ministry in India, instead there is HRD ministry (Ministry of Human Resource Development — मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय ). The Ministry is divided into two departments: the Department of School Education and Literacy (deals with primary, secondary and higher secondary education, adult education and literary), and the Department of Higher Education, which deals with university education, technical education, scholarship etc.
