LGBTQ is an acronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer. People use the term queer because it’s not specific to sexual orientation or to gender identity but is more of an umbrella term that can encompass a lot of people.
There os a lot of information about this community and the challenges they face, but not much is mentioned about their ADOPTION RIGHTS. Nobody ever talks about the problems faced by this community during adoption procedure.
Friend 1: my friend is a lesbian and I totally support her and theres nothing wrong.
Friend 1 (after 10 years watching her friend adopt): I don’t think 2 ladies who are a couple should be given the opportunity to adopt a child because what will the society say!! Individually its fine but as a couple its just not acceptable.
Wow!! So..its all about society in the end I guess!
“I’m pregnant” a phrase which makes people so happy that I guess the entire neighborhood has one sweet box per family and the couple’s house is filled with flowers and the mobile is flooded with congratulations messages.
“My son is adopted because im a gay” a phrase that makes people look at the couple in a disgusted way. House is filled with pity, bitterness, coldness, disfavor and abhorrence.
In an interview a little girl stated “a family is where you rely on 2 adult people. Doesn’t matter if they are 2 ladies or 2 men. They love us and take care of us that’s what I need at the end of the day”.
Can’t we all have the same thinking as this little one? I guess not!
So let us get enlightened by some research that has been done, maybe after that society could change their thinking towards LGBTQ and adoption.
In a research it was found that the children who are up for adoption are really special because they end up in care shelter due to neglect, abuse or loss of parents. Due to these circumstances, these children are more likely to develop learning disability, attachment disorders and developmental problems. Research has shown that the people belonging to lgbtq community are really special too in their own way. They have a greater level of empathy and can understand children really well which makes them good parents.
Our Father of the Nation said, “Live and Let Live”, but by what terms are we following those ideologies?
Right to choose, Right to Live are fundamental & universal rights, which constrict of social norms, the Government and the Judiciary of India are restrainting to this section of people.
If under Consensual sex we are allowed to do whatever we want, how can you bind them in legalities of unnatural sex?
They are no sickness, or disease or anything, they all are normal humans, like you and me, so it’s our moral obligation to support the fairness of humanity!
Every person has a right to lead his life with dignity, to lead a normal and happy life, as long as he doesn’t infringe the rights to other individuals. Every other normal couple, fertile or infertile is given the right to adoption provided other requisites are complied with, then why not lgbt only on account of being what they are without any fault of their own?
And having a child, is the second most basis of the institution of marriage after companionship. Aren’t two dads or two moms better than none?
