Popularly called the ‘Orange City’ due to its large orange cultivation, Nagpur is the second largest city in Maharashtra and is also the second greenest city in India. The Zero Mile in the city lies exactly in the geographical centre of India.

Mumbai was originally a group of seven islands; these islands were joined together to form the city of Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1862. The Portuguese offered Mumbai as a gift to King Charles II of England, on his wedding to Princess Catherine de Braganza of Portugal in 1661.

Further across the sea from the Gateway of India is the Elephanta caves dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Haji Ali Dargah is one of the most important landmarks in Mumbai; the mosque, built over the tomb of the Saint Haji Ali, is situated 500 yards into the sea and so can only be reached at low tide.
The local train network in Mumbai, which is the oldest railway system in Asia, carries more than 6 million people each day.
