Top competitive math exams for school students in Mumbai and other cities in India.

These exams test student’s problem-solving skills & thinking outside the box, giving them confidence early on in facing unfamiliar mathematical challenges. These tests are designed to assist Students to successfully implement Maths & Arithmetic tools and techniques to counter the fear of Maths & Arithmetic. NTSE-NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION

NTSE (organised by NCERT) for school students is a popular scholarship exam conducted in India. Maths is one of the sunject on which tests are conducted.

ELIGIBLITY: Conducted for class-X students only.

SELECTION PROCESS
It has two stages of selection procedures.

• STAGE I: written exam conducted by state/UT.
• STAGE II: Students selected in state level exam appear for national level.

IMO–INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)

Conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). IMO rankings are allotted based on the marks obtained. Science and math syllabus as prescribed by CBSE, ICSE or various state boards.

ELIGIBLITY: Students of class-I to class-XII are eligible to participate.

SELECTION PROCESS
There are various levels of exams – within the school, then at the city state level, and then the international level.

MTSE–MATHS TALENT SEARCH EXAM

Conducted by Indian Institute for Studies in Mathematics (IISMA). Mental ability, mathematical reasoning, accuracy and speed are the main focus of this examination. Its based on CBSE and ICSE prescribed curriculum.

ELIGIBLITY: Students in class-III to class-IX of recognised schools are eligible.

Top rankers per class are selected and awarded scholarships.

IMO–INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD

Competitive exam to encourage mathematical creativity in school children across India and abroad. Based on CBSE and ICSE prescribed curriculum.

ELIGIBLITY: Students in class-I to class-XII of recognised schools are eligible.

Mathematical Olympiad: Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) which runs the mathematical olympiad has entrusted its implementation to the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).

ELIGIBILITY: Students studying in Class 8,9,10,11 or 12 are eligible to write the math exams.

SELECTION PROCESS
A pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO) exam is held at different centres all over India. In order to be eligible for the RMO it is mandatory that students qualify through this centrally administered PRMO. Based on the RMO exam, the students will be eligible to appear for the INMO exam.

MO: Mathematics Olympiad by IIT Bombay

Mathematics Olympiad is a talent search event involving schools and colleges from all over India conducted by Mathematics Association of IIT Bombay.

This is a platform for students to challenge themselves and test their Mathematical knowledge and skills. It is also a great opportunity for the participating students to experience the atmosphere of IIT Bombay, which is one of the premium academic institutions in India.

ELIGIBILITY: Students of various age groups with an interest in Mathematics.

Institute for Promotion of Mathematics (IPM)

Mathematics competitive examination conducted by the Institute for Promotion of Mathematics(#IPM), where mathematical skills, mental ability, calculation speed, critical analysis, accuracy and application of short cut methods of applicants are tested.

This is an all India open mathematics scholarship exam for std II to IX (S.S.C, I.C.S.E or C.B.S.E & I.B or any other Board).

While the qualifying rounds are held all over India, the finals are held only in Mumbai and Pune.

Awards, scholarships, trophies, memento’s are given to top students of each standard in order to honour and motivate them. Awards are also given to best performing schools. The syllabus strives towards making the generally dreaded maths, fun and easy.

IPM Mathemagic is joint venture between Institute for Promotion of Mathematics and Sigma innovations. Every year, Institute for Promotion of Mathematics (IPM) conducts Mathematics Scholarship Examination which is a competitive examination for various standard where mathematics skill, mental ability, calculation speed, critical analysis and accuracy of child and application of shortcut method are tested.
