while top achieving countries, like Singapore, assign their students lots of homework. Finland, on the other hand, succeeds without much homework. On an average, Finnish students do only about three hours of homework a week, yet they score high in reading and math (in the world).
In some countries, such as South Korea, 15-year-olds spent about three hours on homework a week, but they spend an additional 1.4 hours per week with a personal tutor, and 3.6 hours in after-school classes, well above the OECD average for both, according to the OECD survey.
So if you live in India you can consider yourself lucky, as many schools in India now do not emphasize on homework.
