About National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps (Headquartered in Delhi). Teenagers can opt for it as it is open to school and college students on voluntary basis.

Cadets of NCC have no liability to join the military service once they complete their course.
How Does Joining the NCC Benefit Students?
Youngsters from high schools, colleges and universities (all over India) join NCC to become more disciplined and to gain few survival skills. Students are also provided basic military training.
The training activity in the NCC can be broadly classified under the following:
- Institutional Training
- Camp Training
- Attachment Training (to Services Units)
- Army Wing Activities
- Naval Wing Activities
- Air Wing Activities
- Community Development
- Sports
- Adventure Training
Students become physically as well as mentally tough. NCC builds Character, Courage, Comradeship, Discipline, Leaderships, Secular outlook, Spirit of adventure, Sportsmanship and ideal of selfless services among the youth to make them ideal citizens.
NCC Training: Age Limit & Enrolment Period
NCC training for Junior Division Cadets is for two years and for Senior Division it’s for three years. Except for minor variations, the course content is similar for both Boy and Girl cadets.
Age Limit
Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 13 years to 18 1/2 years
Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – Upto 26 years
Enrolment Period
Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 2 years
Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 3 years
Application for Enrolment
Student who wish to join Junior Division should apply to the Headmaster/Principal of the school (in the prescribed form).
Student who wish to join the Senior Division should apply to the Officer Commanding of the nearest NCC Unit
Students who wish to enroll in NCC from educational institutions that are not enlisted as NCC sub-units should approach the Commanding Officer of the nearest NCC Unit for further guidance.
What if Your School/College doesn’t Have an NCC Unit?
You can still join, even if your current school or college doesn’t have this facility. Just get the relevant form signed by Principal or ANO (Associate NCC officer) and submit it at the college with NCC unit.
