What your resume should include have?
As a fresher, you need to highlight your skills and capabilities. Make sure you include these in your resume:
- Contact information – Your name, complete mailing address, mobile number, email ID that you check frequently.
- Education – Qualification, Year of passing, Board or University, Final percentage or grade attained.
- Skills – List four to five skills including familiarity with software or other tools.
- Internships – Mention name of the organisation and duration of internship. Mention in brief the nature of work you were assigned during the internship.
- Projects – Mention any projects that you may have completed; state name of the course and name of the teacher. Briefly explain nature of the project.
- Volunteering – Social or environmental cause/s for which you may have volunteered time.
- Extracurricular activities – Activities that you pursue apart from your regular studies.
- References – Provide references of a couple of relatively senior professionals who can vouch for your character (please take their permission first). Recruiters may also check your social media profiles to run background checks. So while you can mention your Twitter and LinkedIn handles, make sure the things that you share or write on social media are sensible.
Which is the best resume format for a Fresher?
A chronological resume lists your past jobs and work experiences in a logical format. This format works best if you have extensive work experience.
However, if you do not have enough experience, you may consider using a functional resume format instead of a chronological resume. A functional resume puts emphasis on your skills and abilities.
A functional resume is useful for freshers, for those lacking significant work experience, for those who have taken time away from the workforce, and even for those who have recently changed career paths.
