Finished Class X and moved to college? Moving to FYJC (first year of junior college) or Class XI is exciting, especially when you do it from a college (as opposed to doing it from the same school where you studied).
While its important to enjoy the new environment and have fun with friends, you should not take things lightly, as soon you will step into Class XII (12) and your performance there will decide whether you get into a good college (medical, engineering, architecture, and so on).

An important advice to Class X students is to work hard towards scoring well so that they can be admitted to the college of their choice. The cut-offs at many colleges are really high and, unfortunately, due to the competitive atmosphere, you may not be able to get a college of your choice. There will be no point regretting not putting in that little bit extra after the results are out.
Do not treat FYJC (class XI) lightly.
To develop skills and work ethics, students should not take the FYJC (first year of junior college) or Class XI lightly. You might have just gotten out of a whole year of hard work and want to enjoy before getting into another rigorous year (Class XII).
Even then, you should not treat this year lightly or fall out of good habits because getting back to the grind is really difficult.
Use this opportunity to make friends, go and talk to everybody. You will also realize that there are for more intelligent students than you (assuming you had scored well in class X).
Apart from that, don’t give in to a lot of peer pressure. Have a mind and a backbone of your own and stick up for your beliefs. Do not get drawn into things you consider wrong for you just because a group of friends challenge you. Also, learn to stand up for yourself and not accept ragging.
Another problem that stems out of peer pressure is hanging outside during class timings, which only lands you in the defaulters’ list. Do have fun, but make sure you attend enough classes to keep you out of trouble. You don’t want the college authorities calling your parents about it.
Also, make sure your studying habits don’t go haywire, which can happen if you start seeing college as a place to go and do ‘time pass’. I have seen brilliant students fail in first semester subjects. Don’t do that. You will be in Class XII even before you realize.
So strike a balance between fun, exploration, and studies.
