The state of Uttar Pradesh lies in the northern part of India. It is the largest state in India by population. There are 75 districts in the state of UP.

Lucknow is the capital city of the state. Allahabad and Kanpur are among the largest cities of Uttar Pradesh. Mathura and Vrindavan is famous as the place of Lord Krishna and is famous for many temples.

Uttar Pradesh is also known as the Land of Prime Ministers. Seven out of 15 prime ministers of independent India has been from the city of Allahabad in the state.

The world’s largest gathering known as Kumbh Mela takes place in Allahabad every 12 years. Millions of pilgrims come here to take a holy bath in the river Ganga from all over the world.

Varanasi, located on the banks of the river Ganges is believed to be the oldest city of India – nearly 3,000 years old. Varanasi is called the cultural capital of India and is famous for the Banaras Hindu University – Asia’s largest residential university.

Agra on the banks of river Yamuna is famous for the Taj Mahal, which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

The state produces half of the total sugarcane of the country, this is why the state is also called the “5ugarcane bowl of India.”

Gorakhpur rallway station is the world’s longest railway platform that stretches around 1.35 kilometres.

Fatehpur 5ikri in Agra district is known for the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisht and Panch Mahal.

Sarnath is an important Buddhist pilgrimage and is famous for impressive 128 feet high Dhamek Stupa, Ashoka Pillar and Mulagandhakuti Vihara.

Dudhwa National Park in Lakhimpur Kheri is the only national park in the state. There are several tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries in the state such as Bakhira wildlife sanctuary, Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, Parvati Arga Bird Sanctuary, Gonda, Saman Sanctuary.
