Art-Integrated Project Work for Class IX

Topic: Italian Renaissance Painting
Art Integrated: Art & Craft (Painting)

Description: Italian Renaissance painting is the Painting of the period beginning the late 13 century, and flourishing from the early 15 to late 16 centuries, in the Italian peninsula.

Methodology: Students must research on the following topics:

• (i) The History of Italian Renaissance Painting
• (ii) It’s important message to the society
• (iii) How does it change the existing art form?
• (iv) What does the picture (of Mona Lisa) signify!

You can also make one famous painting of that time period. For example: MonaLisa. Materials Required: A-4 Size Sheet (plain/light color), Paint and Brush.

Topic: Celebrating health (Miracle of Yoga)

Description: Yoga- derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuji’ meaning Yoke or Union. Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress.

Methodology: Research the history and significance of Yoga along with an exercise practice from another country. For example: Japanese Yoga. You can also write a report on the following points:

• i) How can it decrease stress and anxiety?
• ii) How can it reduce inflammation?
• iii) How it may fight depression?
• iv) How does it improve flexibility and balance?

You can also explain the Importance of different Yoga Poses like Mountain pose (Tadasana), Chair pose (utkatasana), etc. on A4 size sheet.

Topic: Puppet Show
Art Integrated: Art & Craft

Description: Create a scene/storyline to highlight the problem of oil spill in the Ocean and how it is affecting the flora and fauna of the aquatic ecosystem. Methodology: Make puppets of characters of your story with the materials as available at your home, with good voice modulation. Make a short video and record it. Write the story line/script on an A4 size sheet to present it creatively along the video. Also, Research about other phenomena/human activities that create problems in aquatic ecosystems like oceans and incorporate them into your storyline. Statistical Data of your Research (year, Tonnes of oil spill etc.) should be included and creatively presented in the story as well as written on sheet along with the script.

Points to Remember: Dynamic Research on causes and problems. Initiatives made by different countries to control this problem and conserve water resources, is needed. Don’t forget to include facts and recent news. Storylines should include problems, effects, and solutions to the problem.
