STANFORD VISIT at JAI HIND COLLEGE
In 2019 a group of Stanford undergraduate students visited Jai Hind College as part of their trip to Mumbai. The Stanford group of students wished to learn about the “Roots of Socio-Economic Inequalities in India”. The lecture and interactions on the topic were well appreciated by the Stanford students. Students engaged individually with respective faculty and had conversations about Indian economy, culture and heritage. Stanford students engaged in group singing and enthusiastically participated cultural dances as well. The interactive session saw participation by Stanford students with great gusto and they wished if more lectures and interaction could be chalked out in the future by Jai Hind college.

IIMs fail to attract foreign students
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), the country’s top business schools, are the most sought after among bright Indian students and are renowned for the top job offers their graduates get.
However, these premier institutes fail to attract international students. With barely a handful of overseas students seen in some IIMs — their classrooms are far from being global in diversity (Indian School of Business has a better percentage of international students).
Experts say there are a few reasons for this:
- IIMs do not figure prominently on top university lists globally.
- Foreign companies don’t focus their recruiting efforts on India
- Lack of adequate foreign faculty at the IIMs
- India is not seen as a study destination on the same lines as western countries, Singapore, Hong Kong.
