With the fierce global scenario & also due to the advent of technology, the manager’s role today has changed drastically.
1. Manager can’t play the role of a manager but has to play the role of a leader. He must be able to see the hidden potentials in his people, so that they deliver at a higher level.
2. Manager needs to be a technocrat & assign creative work to his people. An ideal combination of technology combined with innovative / smart work lead to productive results.
3. Manager has to lead his people by example. He has to exhibit a new behaviour to support a new product, introduction of new technology or embrace a new concept benefiting the employee at large.
4. Manager has to bring out the best amongst people. Today, a working population comprises of Gen X, Millennial X, Y, Z. Handling people & engaging them is a superlative function.
5. Manager gives time, recognition & feedback. Human beings are creatures of emotions. In today’s context, a manager has to be emotionally intelligent in handling people by communicating well, listening intently, giving time, recognising & rewarding their work & giving feedback quite often.
6. Being a visionary. He has to be articulate in percolating the vision to downline the line so that the employees understand the way it has to be understood.
7. Build people. Manager’s role is give meaningful & purposeful roles to his people so that they go home fulfilled. Employees are assets & they have to be built for futuristic & higher roles.
8. Handle challenges. No work today is easy. The pressure of competition, the demands of customers, the rising ambition of employees, volatile market conditions, handling both top management & employees is tough. Each day is a challenge which needs to be handled with a lot of maturity.
9.Bring Excellence. Excellence is a habit which has to be created step by step. What can be done or created could be done better or created.
Bring more of himself in terms of thinking, action, behaviour will lead to better & improved results. What people see is what people do.
