Young Scientist Programme (ISRO) for school students

Students who have an interest in science, can now apply for ISRO’s two weeks Young scientist program during summer vacations.

Indian government is giving a lot of important to science and is backing several initiatives. In tune with the Government’s vision “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan”, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has launched a special programme for School Children called “Young Scientist Programme” “YUva VIgyani KAryakram” (युविका) this year (2019) onwards.

The Program will impart basic knowledge on Space Science & Technology to children with interest in Space activities. The program is thus aimed at creating awareness amongst the youngsters who are the future building blocks of our Nation.

ISRO’s intention of this programmer is to “Catch them young”.

Salient features of this programme:

Duration: two weeks (to be conducted during summer holidays)

Plan is select 3 students each from each State/ Union Territory to participate in this programme every year. Those who have finished 8th standard will be eligible for the programme. The selection will be based on academic performance and extracurricular activities, clearly mentioned in the selection criteria that has been circulated to Chief Secretaries of States. Students in rural areas will be given preference.

All expenses will be borne by ISRO (II AC train, lodging and boarding, course material). II AC fare will also be provided to one guardian/parent for drop and pick up of student from the reporting centre.
